The Association of Mozambican Sugar Producers (APAMO) was set up in 2001 by Companhia de Sena S.A, Açucareira de Xinavane S.A, Açucareira de Moçambique S.A and Maragra Açúcar S.A. as a response to the challenges the industry was facing, despite the enormous production potential at national level.
APAMO was set up to represent, support and coordinate the common interests of the Mozambican sugar industry, promote its image and contribute to its growth and sustainability. On the other hand, to contribute to the industry’s recognition nationally and internationally, which was indispensable following the installation of the privatised sugar industry system after the civil war.
